Ken Buckner Author Artist Photographer

Ken Buckner Author Artist Photographer

Ken Buckner Author Artist Photographer

Meet Ken Buckner, nationally renowned local nature photographer and artist.  Most of his photos were taken near his home in the South Brunswick Islands of North Carolina on Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Sunset Beach, NC and Holden Beach, NC.

“I explore beauty with my camera. The photos show the journey” – Ken Buckner

Born in Ohio and raised in Michigan, Ken was educated at the University of Michigan and graduated with honors from the Art Center College of Design in California. He then traveled to London for a year of study in the student room of the British Museum…

Moving to Manhattan, Ken worked as an art director for various advertising agencies. He transferred to Los Angeles, received national recognition for his creative work on Cole of California, designed a logo for Bill Blass and an innovative ad campaign for Pendelton.

He moved to Connecticut to join a film group there and began work in photography and film for various educational and industrial accounts, especially SAAB of Sweden.

Ken illustrated children’s books for three years in Westport and then turned to fine art with a commission from a multi-national corporation to paint large oils depicting several northeastern states. He also began accepting portrait commissions which included the grandson of Alfred Bloomingdale.

A final move to the coast of North Carolina was made in 1976. He designed and built a studio near the sea and created in solitude, painting and photographing the beauty while completing over 100 low relief wood sculptures for various private and corporate concerns.

1n 1990, he and his then wife Terry, a nationally known portrait artist, established Doe Creek Gallery. The unique studio / gallery is devoted to aesthetic realism.

Ken began to concentrate totally on his passion – the beauty of nature.

Favorite Beach Photos – By Ken BucknerPhotography became his main medium of expression allowing him to combine his diverse art experience, the latest computer technology, aesthetics and his love of the natural world. He now plans to continue maximum contact with nature while creating photographs of timeless beauty.

Ken’s new book Favorite Beach Photos is “hot off the presses”.

It is a beautiful hardcover coffee table edition with 128 high quality 8″x10″ pages with 100 full color photographs.

Stroll sandy shores by the sea or the beaches of a lovely lake and see sunrises, sunsets and wildlife just as nationally renowned local nature photographer and artist, Ken Buckner viewed them through his camera.

This is Ken’s journey and you are invited to join him through these pages. Most of the photos were taken near his home in the South Brunswick Islands of North Carolina.

The book includes the occasional “story behind the picture.” Ken wants the reader to feel some of the excitement he experienced capturing these special moments in time.
